I made a wonderful discovery a few months back.
A lady by the name of Cristie who lives not too far from me on Sydney's Lower North Shore, makes candles and bees wax wraps as a creative outlet and donates all the money she receives to OFIA - Orangutang Foundation International Australia.
It's a concept now known to me as "Create to Donate"
Cristie works in a rather intense day job, and loves nothing more than filling and re-filling vessels as candles & making bees wax wraps for other local folk, as a chance to slow down, be present & mindful, whilst also giving back to her wonderful cause.
Having received some of Cristie's beautiful candles myself, I approached her to ask if she would transform some very "on brand" (ie: Pink & Orange!) Jocelyn Proust Fabrics I had, into Creative Finds Custom Made Bees Wax Wraps.
And boy, did she out-do herself!
Cristie spent 18hours mindfully washing, ironing, cutting and waxing and packaging these delightful wraps up for me and for the Orangutangs.
The fabrics are a drill cotton, so nice and thick and therefore great quality. They're wrapped up with a bow; and care instructions and information is included.
I have sets of 3 x Bees Wax Wraps Available - made using Aussie Bush Wax from Ballina, Northern NSW - in two sizes.
Large Set contains 3 x wraps: one large enough for a lasagne dish, one large enough to cover a quiche, and one that would do a crumble or a piece of watermelon. (45x45, 35x35, 30x30)
Regular Set contains 3 x wraps: Ideal for covering bowls, sandwiches, muffins, fruit, cheese. (25x25, 30x30, 35x35)
Sizes are approximate as each one is hand-made and we wanted to use all the fabric.
A wonderful present idea, with funds going to a worthy cause. x
