This past couple of weekends are traditionally busy ones in the artisan market game. Pre Mother's Day is the perfect opportunity for makers to promote their beautiful creations and for gift shoppers to pick up something unique and something with a story. While I've frequented my local Organic Farmers Market, who also has a range of creative stall holders, this past weekend I visited the Sydney Finders Keepers Market as well as Sydney Made who are at The Rocks Markets for the month of May. Last week I visited the Life Instyle Trade Show at Sydney's Hordern Pavillion. While many of the exhibitors at these shows are well established brands, who have large minimum order quantities and they already supply to many stores and businesses all over Australia; there is always the "first in show" section that I gravitate towards. Here are businesses who are relatively new to the the trade show experience. It's a section devoted towards emerging designers and, an early adopter,  I love the innovation, quality & originality on display in this area of the show. Here are my three favourite 'finds'...

While handmade is the new black, artisan markets are the new shopping mall. Often held outside and the ability to meet the makers is certainly preferable in my mind, to tackling those super centre car parks and the homogeneous store offerings. So here are a few up & coming one off Christmas Markets or Fairs in Syd/Melb/Adel. There are plenty of regular weekly markets running throughout too of course.
